Plot

A face of people has history, present and future. 'Kim naekyeon' is most incredible face reader who sees all of history through face. He lives with Brother in law, 'Panghyun' and son, 'Jinhyeong' in deep deep mountain.

Because of a offer from 'Yeonhong' who is running 'Gibang', Kimnaekyeong works with her in there.
He is getting famous as a best face reader, so a prime minister of 'Josun' wants to meet him.

'Munjong' who is a son of 'Sejong' is old and sick, so his son is going to be next king. but he is weaker and younger than his uncles. So Munjong wants to know who is gonna doing treason. a Most suspected one is 'Suyang' daegun. So 'kim naekyeong' investigates him....

About face reading. Face reading is one of most famous occult in korea. If you walk through famous street in korea like 'Myeongdong', you can see '관상 Gwansang'. Gwansang means 'reading face'. For example nose means money. so if you earn so much money,  nose must look like gall-bladder.

About korea occult. Korea has so many occult thing. 'Mudang' is one who see the future by asking to ghost. 'Saju' is way to see the future by investigating its birth time.
'Pungsu' is way to evaluate ground by measuring place of water and mountain. There is something more. but i think 'Saju' and 'Gwansang' are most reliable.

About this historical background. It is in 1453, and we called this 'Kyeyu jungnan'
Josun was held in 1392 by 'Taejo'. actually his real name is 'Lee sungkye' but after he became a king, he must have been called like that king's name, 'Taejo'.
so all king of 'Josun' had two name, as a king, and as a person.

'Taejo' had so many son , and next king was first son 'Jungjong'. But one of his brother wanted to be a king, so he killed all other brother. He who killed all his brother was 'Taejong' and real name is 'Lee bangwon'. (his son is 'Sejong'. and 'Sejong' had 8 sons. First son was 'Munjong' and second son was 'Suyangdaegun'. after 'Suyang' became a king, he was used to call 'Sejo')

In movie, you can see the portrait of 'Taejong'. Because he killed his brother to be king, he had face of a treason. And 'Suyang' had similar face with him.

About 'Suyang Daegun'. 'Daegun' means literally lord, and shortly 'Gun'. explaing more, it is for those who is on a Succession sequence. So 'Suyang' is name, and 'Daegun' is title. and sometime you can hear 'mama'. 'Mama' was used when his servants calls royals. and in royal, they called each other 'mama' too.

About last scene. 'Kim naekyeon' said to 'Han myeonghoe', "you must be beheaded".
when several years passed after he died, he was beheaded by a King 'Yeonsan gun' (you can find his story in 'King and clown'). It is called 'Bugwan chamsi'. it means 'digging out dead person from the grave, and then beheading the dead'. it was so dishonor, and his family like his son or grand son or relative was in punishment because of the dead. So face reading of what 'Kim naekyeong' said right.
